Question Looking for 1500 Drifter

Has anyone seen a new 1500 Drifter for sale at any of your local dealerships in PA? (Preferrably in Eastern, PA.)

Or possibly a used 1500 Drifter?

I have seen the 800 Drifters at the local Kawa dealers. But I'd rather a 1500.

Yes, I know. I just didn't know soon enough to buy one locally.

I was hoping to find a leftover 2005 1500 Drifter. My google searches have brought some up in Cali or other states but not PA. I was also searching for a used Drifter.

I guess I was hoping that someone might have noticed one sitting way back in a corner of their local Kawa dealership.

Thanks for the reply.

Kinda like I know of this little dealership that still has a new 2003 1500 Mean Streak. It also has a new 2004 1600 Mean Streak.

I thought someone might have noticed a 1500 Drifter someplace in PA.

If someone does happen across one. Please PM me with the info. Thanks.

There is a used one for sale in my area...

Ford Dark Iris purple/black. Russet saddle leather solo seat. Rigid conversion. Functional Indian foot clutch, hand shift conversion using modified 1940s parts. Russet leather saddlebags and tool pouch. Left hand throttle. Coker wide white walls. HD springer style horn. Fabric covered wires where exposed to view. Color matched headlight and spotlight buckets. Chief fender rack. HD beehive tail light. Turn signal delete (not required out here). True dual exhaust with Brough Superior style mufflers.

Considering the parts and work this thing has had added/done to it, $12K isn't bad... Of course, it isn't necessarily good either...

You won't find one out here. Even when they were being made, most shops here, they were special order only, same for the 800 Drifter. With 100% down.

Thanks for the replies.

I did have a local dealership do a search. They came up with a Drifter hours away. Right now I am waiting for a email from the dealership. (breakdown of fees) I am considering having the dealership bring it in. It's hard for me to buy something I can't see.

What would a decent price be on a new 2005 1500 Drifter?

Whatever you are willing to pay, up to MSRP. Not tryin to be a wise a$$, but that is the truth. Of course, the less you can get it for, the better. The 1500 Drifters and Classics are great bikes.
And WELCOME to the Forum!!

Question

Ok.. That's the second time I've lost my password.

Well, I've found a 1500 Drifter about 5 or 6 hours away. I would make the trip to purchase it but I'm not getting good feedback from the dealer. First, he seemed to give me a decent price. But then the otd price didn't add up. It was around $1000. more than the starting price. It just didn't match the fee totals. Anyway, I called back once to ask for a breakdown and it didn't add up. Then I called back again and asked them to email me a breakdown of the fees. A woman said she'd send it out in a few minutes. Never got it. So I call back the next day and explain that I needed a breakdown of fees. This time they did send a breakdown. First price + tax + two more fees (around $200.) = a total that is actually $200. less than their total. They did not add correctly. So, I send another email asking if their price is correct or if it would be for $200. less. I haven't heard anything more from them. I don't want to drive 5 or 6 hours to have something go wrong. The otd price would be around $10,600. depending on their next total.

I've been looking for a motorcycle for at least 6 months now. If I don't get a Drifter. I am considering a 1500 Classic, Mean Streak, VStar 1100 or Road Star 1600.
I also considered the vtx1300c. But now I'm not interested in it.

Is $8900. before tax and fees / around $9500. out the door a good price for a new leftover 2005 Mean Streak? (magma red)

If you really want a Drifter, you will never be happy with other bikes. I don't think Kawasaki made a lot of Drifters and now the 1500 Drifter is discontinued. If it's a few hunder dollors that separates a Drifter from other Vulcans and you can aford it, you should go for the Drifter.

I have been to several dealers lately looking at leftover bikes. I have not seen any Drifters at all. I have been considering a Mean Streak, and the BEST price I have seen on a leftover 2005 Meanie has been in the $8900+ price range. Two dealers had a leftover 2004 Suz Marauder (M95) and wanted the same $8900+ for them.
Several people on the forum have stated buying a M S or M95 much cheaper,
but I can't seem to find those deals.

It's not the $200. difference that bothers me. I just want the dealership to respond to my email and answer my questions. I'm planning to buy with cash. So I want to know the exact purchase amount. I don't want to drive 5 or 6 hours only to have something go wrong. Then I might have to return 5 or 6 hours with an empty trailer.

One dealer has a 2003 for $9000. and a $2004 for $9500. So when I found the 2005 for $8900. It didn't seem too bad. Maybe I should go back and talk to the sales person now that there's snow on the ground again. We had a few warm days. $8900. is a little over 2k off of retail.

Cash usually talks real good! I think if you go there with the cash you want to get it for, you probably will. They probably think you're not that serious because of the distance. With the dealer being that far away, it's not like you are going to be dealing with them after you buy it. I would say go for it and talk them down to the point you are happy.

I decided not to go. I was planning to go tomorrow. I had sent a email to the dealership last week. They have not responded to my questions. So, I will not waste my time driving 5.5, 6 hours.

I went down to a local Kawasaki dealership this morning and put some money down on their last leftover Mean Streak.

Thanks for all the replies.

Does anyone want to know where there's a 05' 1500 Drifter in western Pa?
