Default Let there be light!

I think its time to add some lights to the Teryx. Have 4 driving lights for it and as you can see all the cut outs are made. This lightbar will also house the stereo and CB radio.

This is as far as I have gotten today. Need to get the radio/stereo mounts in place yet and hope to have that done next weekend before starting on the finish work. I did take it for a ride across some rough country just to make sure the mounts were solid ... they were

Will update as progress is made.

Ya know Ken.... honestly.... you could have saved a few bucks and had a LOT more fun just building your own Teryx from the ground up, just like that guy that built the Lambo in his basement.

Thanks. It is in the rough at the moment, but will clean up nicely and the four 55 watt halogens should light up the ground in front of me.

Can the charging system handle that kind of wattage?
I'm going back to 35w for my spots because I'm not happy with the performance of my 1600's system running two 55's and the 100w high beam.

Running all four spots at one time would tax the system, but I have it set up where the two outer lamps are more like alley lights shooting well off to thier respective side and each are on seperate switches.

In a lot of the areas this rig goes the brush is much taller then the factory lights. Often the lights shoot straight into the brush and not much further then the front of the Teryx. Hopefully this will fix that little problem

I've seen the past work you've done. I'm sure it will come out very nice.

Thanks buddy, have most of the wiring done, the radio is installed and all I am waiting for now is access to a metal brake to bend some aluminum sheet.

I've heard Fabreeze is good for spots. Oh...you said you "don't" leave spots!

Are you buying a brake or using someone's?

Dave, it will run two of the spots constantly without a problem, but running all four spots at one time would tax the system. I have it set up where the two outer lamps are more like alley lights shooting well off to thier respective side and each are on seperate switches.

Nah, I know the stump jumpers are behind every bush trying to catch people doing that (I say that with respect as it is thier job)

One dark and rainy night, about 10 years ago, a partner and I were heading back to our camp. It was late, well after dark, and we had several miles of extreme riding before we got back to the old dirt road. The brush was well above the quads and our stock headlights were shooting straight into the brush at the front of the quads, not letting us see much more then 5' in front of us. We started down a hill that got so steep the brakes were worthless as the quads just started sliding. When we finally got them stopped we were only feet from a 100' drop off (cliff). With some real lights we probably wouldn't have gone the direction we did. Since that time I have added real lights to all the ATV's and now to the RUV

I knew you were a "hunt in daylight hours only" kind of guy.

Reading your riding experience and knowing you were that close to that much of a drop off must have made your heart beat a little faster!

Years ago we use to drive a Willys jeep on the ranch in California to haul irrigation sprinkler heads (the massive sized ones) up and down hills to set them for the next 2 hour run. One time we got into wet grass/ground and the jeep took off and we couldn't stop it as it was sliding out of control. When we did stop we were next to a 6 foot deep creek. Reading your 4x4 experience brought back some scary moments so I can imagine how you guys must have felt sliding out of control about to go over a long drop.
