Default help with smoking

i have a 1980 kz1000. the bike has white smoke coming out of the exhaust when it is warm. it has pod filters and a kerker 4-1 header with no baffles. i dont know if it has been jetted or not. also it has the low emissions head and the valve cover is leaking exhaust around the #4 emission port. could the smoking just be that the carbs need to be jetted, or do you think it is rings/ valves. the bike has 30,000 miles on it. it runs pretty good, but it seems to stumble on hard excelleration and at high rpms. hope someone has some info for me. thanx.

was it sitting for awhile? if so its probably conensation that needs to burn off and thats it. otherwise, what does the smoke smell like? are you losing oil anywhere?

alternately, take the cigarettes away from the bike.

If it's smoking gray when warmed it's been jetted a bit bigger than needed. Blue smoke is oil. Gray or black is a rich condition. Others here can be more specific on what jetting to use for the setup you have. You should probably mention which carbs you have as well.
