Hey im the 2nd owner of a 86' Kawasaki GPZ 900R (Yea the tom cruise bike off TOPGUN lol) Its got 45K Miles on it and was running strong until the Starter Clutch went out on it and it is hard to push start a almost 800 pound bike imo =). I was Just wondering, how much will a normal shop cost to install a new one? i have a new on right here but dont know how to take it apart that well, anybody have any tips/walkthru's i can read or anything? Also was wondering how much a bike shop would take from me to install it? Thanks for your help ^.^

All you need is the tools and a service manual. if you went to a shop, it'd be easily $1000+ because it involves spliting the cases, and pulling the motor.
GPZ900R A5 Restoration & Modification has the info/manuals you need. you'll need a socket set, torque wrench, and some patience really.

its no problem. I have the same essential engine in my 86 GPz1000. if you need first hand assistance from someone, feel free to ask and I'll guide you as best I can.
