Default Oil Filter Question?

So I changed the oil and the filter came with 2 o-rings a small one and a large one. When I took of the old filter I saw were the larger one went but did not see a small on anywhere. What's the small o-ring for?

I've been looking for the diagrams on Kawasaki.com and can't find any.

Kawasaki.com -->> Owner Info -->> Parts diagrams -->> etc

I find it easiest to do the Search-by-Model-Info without entering a vin or anything.
Just click continue, pick a year only, continue, then choose a bike from the list.

Maybe that's why? I'll try it or it could because I have a 1980 KZ750H and they don't have diagrams for bikes that old?

They have diagrams for bikes from 1975- or 76-on, so yours is covered.
However, the vin search only works for the 17 digit vins.

Oops...I think I put the little 16mm o-ring inside on the bolt underneath the filter. Seriously do not have 40.00 to change the oil again. Think it will hurt anything to leave it in there?

The small o-ring seals the the oil filter bolt against oil filter plate.
The big o-ring seals the oil filter plate against the oil pan.

You will not hurt a thing by leaving it there til you change the oil again. Being an old Voyager XII guy with approximately 100,000 miles of time on them, and having done many oil changes I must tell you that I changed the large o-ring every time, and the small one about every fifth change, and never had any trouble. The KZ uses the same filter.
