Piston could be damaged or it could be trapped air. Have you tried loosening the bleeder valve or any of the banjo bolts to see if that would get the air out and start pumping?

Yes I've taken everything apart...maybe that's the problem I've never bleed a brake system before maybe I'm doing somethign wrong. If I have the cylinder off it should pumb brake cleaner through the inline hole and then out the banjo bolt hole when I pump the piston, shouldn't it?

If it were working right, yes. If the rubber cup on the piston is split/torn then it wouldn't. The best thing to do would be take it all apart and examine all the pieces. If you don't have a service manual to show you how you might be able to looks at the parts breakdown at kawasaki.com and get an idea of how it comes apart.

Did you take the snap ring out that locks the piston in?

Yes it comes out fine I guess it's the plunger and spring that I'm talking about that won't come out.

I had the same problem with mine. The MS was moving freely but would not pump. I took the snap ring out and took a blow gun to the end where the line goes in and used air pressure to force the piston out. You have to be careful so it does not shoot out. On the front one it would not come out after soaking with pb blaster so I took a pair of needle nosed pliers and grabbed it. I then wrapped the handles in a rag and put them in a vice so I could get a good clamp on it since I did not have a pair of locking long nosed pliers. A little wiggling and pulling and she came right out.

The rear one was a bit dirty so I cleaned it up and took a fine wire and poked through the small hole in the MS because if it is plugged it will not work right. I then put it all back together bleed it and she is now slamming.

I designed a bleed bottle when working on automobile brakes where I could bleed them by myself. I took a plastic bottle and put a hole in the top just big enough to run a tube in it. I then sealed the top around the tube and put enough brake fluid in the bottle so the tube would be down in the fluid and would not get air in it. Attach the other end of the tube to the bleed screw and open it. The tube needs to fit the bleed screw snug. Now you can pump away without having to worry about drawing air back in the system. Just be sure not to let the MS reservoir run low of fluid to where it will get air in it. On a bike you can watch and see when the bubbles stop and know you are done. Tighten the bleed screw and remove the hose.

However on my bike I did not bother making a bleed bottle. I just took a ziplock bag and stuck a tube in it to where the opening was down in the corner. I wrapped the opening of the bag around the tube and taped it on. Used a zip tie to hold the bag in place on the bike and put the open end of the tube on the bleed screw, opened it and added fluid to the reservoir and pumped away until the bubbles stopped. Tightened the bleed screw, removed the tube and was finished. Like I say the brakes are slamming.
