Default Self-cancelling turn signals?

I just read that the turn signals on my 1980 KZ750 LTD has them mine don't. It also says that you can set them to manual, wonder if that's what the previous owner did of if they are broke. Can someone please tell me how to set it so that I can se if that's what he did?

I don't have a KZ750, but my bike has self-canceling signals. The left grip has a horn button, a high/low beam switch, a turn signal switch, and a manual/auto switch. It's just that simple. If you don't have the extra switch, you don't have the feature. BTW, mine hasn't worked for years, even after tearing the switch all down and cleaning everything twice. It worked for a few weeks the first time I fixed it. It just didn't seem to be worth the effort to work on it anymore.

So can you turn your auto-canceling feature on and off?

If there is a way to disable it, I'm not aware of it. I've never seen any info in the owners manual about being able to do that.

One easy way to check if you have them would be to open the left side switch housing up and see if there is a small solenoid inside.

Mine doesn't work either (Z1-R). I have the auto/manual switch. Word is that this feature self cancelled itself (as in broke) after a relatively short period of time. I got a nos one on the shelf, maybe I'll put it on some year

Mine stopped working shortly after buying the bike. Took it in to the dealer because it was still covered by warranty. They replaced the odometer thinking that was the cause then replaced the control unit (bottom of battery case on mine) and fixed it. It quit again a few years later. When I stripped the bike to powdercoat the frame I found that the harness from the control unit had been rubbing on the battery case and had rubbed 2 wires completely through and a third was bare and grounding out to the case. I spliced the wires back but it still doesn't work.
