81 KZ550 aftermarket air cleaner

I am bobbing a 1981 KZ550 LTD, and Im looking for aftermarket air cleaners.

Does anyone know of a direct fit, or are there some universals that for for similar KZs that anyone can recommend?

Why aftermarket? You can get used ones on ebay pretty cheap if you are patient. Or do you want to change to pod type filters because you may have to rejet the carbs if you go that route?

Yes, i want to do the solo/pod ones. Im hard tailing the frame and i need to get rid of the stock airbox.

Oldbikebarn has some that will fit, and i do plan on doing a full rebuild, so rejetting was in the plans as required by the switch. Just wanted to see if anyone had any good experience/recommendations.

K&N are by far the most popular but they're probably the most expensive too. The good thing is they last forever with proper care.

go K&N, its worth it. they'll pay for themselves over time.
