Ok so I decided to cut the sides down because there was no way to build the damaged side to match the other side. Here are a few pics of my patch work.

I've looked at a few sites and even on ebay. But cash is not my strong suit at the moment and I also want to see how little I can get by spending and have the bike running. When it is all said and done I will gather my receipts and see how much total I have spent and may even post results.

I also am thinking about later getting another fairing, probably from ebay, to return it to stock. Everything else is already there down to the pipes and mufflers. But I also like trying to salvage things that most people would throw away.

Shot some paint but have not hit it with clear coat yet. I left the windscreen edge a bit rough because I plan on running some trim around the edge, and the edge of the fairing too. Wanted to see how it would look with the mirrors and signals so did a mock-up on the bike but I should have stuck the tank on for the shoot to see how it blends in.

Anyway here is where she stand as of now.

That white on the inside around the headlight must be light reflecting off the walls because it is not on the fairing.

Also that turn signal was busted pretty good but I did not get any pics that details the damage. It was actually in three pieces when I took the lens off.

I like what you've done. An suv hit a deer, she never TOUCHED the brakes, "I always heard never brake when you are going to hit a deer". She would have missed it if she had The body went the other way but the head came off toward me. It hit the lower fairing. I was lucky it hit there rather then under a tire. Looked like a simple couple of cracks, but when I got it home, took it off, and examined it, it came within a hair of totally shattering. The part was $300 or $400 so I reinforced the back side with fibreglass cloth and resin. The cracks show but I like that Battle scar The bike came out of it better than the deer AND the suv

The fairing looks like one of the mini/bikini fairings now. I like the looks. Are you planning to go back with the original white/black stripes?

I been mulling over the striping Mike, but have not decided yet. I am thinking about painting them on instead of decals.

Personally, I really like the red with white/black paint scheme on the older ninjas. I like it just as much today as I did back when the very first one hit the street. I was so mad when I saw the first one and I had just bought my bike a short time before that.

I used the fiberglass reinforced bondo and the fiberglass cloth to add strength. Make sure you sand it and get a rough surface so it sticks well. If it is slick it will come loose as I have had that happen on atv plastic I repaired before.

Did you salvage some broken off pieces, melding them into the repair?

That is one heckuva repair job. Nice work.

Actually I did. The section where the blinker goes was busted and a couple of the chunks I stuck together since they had what was left of the holes where the signal bolts on and the wire runs. Then I mated it to the fairing and still had a big gap. Ran some fiberglass cloth on the backside and then filled it in. I had some fiberglass mat in storage but could not find it so got some of the cloth to try out. Well I like the mat better.
Also the right blinker was broke so I had to put it back together.

I flipped my atv warrior once and busted the front fender and fixed it the same way. It was still together when I sold it recently. Having been together 6 or 7 years so hopefully this will work out too.

Well I have decided on a color scheme and have been trying to get the bike painted. Putting two colors together is a lot harder than just one color. But for an idea of what I am going for take a look at the turbo bike below and imagine the colors reversed. Black where red is and red where black is. But without the sides and lower fairing.
