I've finally got my '83 GPz750 "Naked" project on the road, just in time for the California winter!
I started with a runner I found on Graig's list for $600. My aim was to improve the seating position, I'm too stiff for the stock clip-ons etc. I fitted a set of pro-tappers to a modified top-tree. I had the seat recovered with grip skin and more foam to add some height, $80 from Ray's Upholstery in Watsonville (831) 475-7551. Second was the lighting. The stock light just didn't cut it so I added a pair of Hella spots, which work much better. Lastly was the handling. I removed the "anti-dive" from the forks, added progressive springs and replaced the seals and bushings. A 1990 ZX750 shock replaced the stock rear unit. While I was at it I removed the rear fender, chain guard and cut down the front fender. Turn signals and tail light were from eBay. The Kirker pipe and K & N filters and Dynojet stage two kit were already installed. The rest is stock, just some TLC to clean it all up. I painted the faded black plastic with silver Krylon Fusion plastic paint. S100 and polished socket screws (eBay) smartened up the motor. Just to make it more interesting I removed ALL the words "Kawasaki" the Kanji decal is all that shows it's roots. I'm pleased to report that it is now comfortable, works at night, handles and turns heads. My thanks to James at Banke Engineering (Welcome to Banke Performance) for the top tree mods, anti-dive blanking plates and Galfer braided lines. I'm very pleased with my $1200 investment ..... and the comments I get

Nice, have thought along those lines quite a bit.
Could you get me a close up of the clutch connection on the motor side, mainly the support right above the end of the cable? Not sure mine is right or stock... |

Nice job...it looks great. I hope that my KZ750H LTD looks that good when I'm done, I paid $900 for it and will need to put about $1,350 to get it road worthy and about $1,800 to $2,000 to get where I want it to be.
