Thanks for serving.
My thought are thus. I see the lack of a fairing as a way to differentiate my vintage bike from all of the modern sportbikes. Now, I need something to reduce the pressure of the wind on my chest, so I use a classic cafe quarter fairing. If you want more, though, get a classic frame mount such as the Rickman or the Vesco. Or better yet a Parisienne such as the bikes in Mad Max sported. I think there's an outfit in Japan that makes them, and if you have a buddy stationed in Japan that can use military mail, shipping to the US wouldn't be that bad. make sure you dont let up till your safely home, and take your time getting acclimated. I remember trying to drive again after getting back, may want to invest in the MSF just to refresh the basics and fundamentals

I think you if get a flat seat, you should be able to craft a cover that fits over the pax portion of the seat for solo riding, and comes off for two up riding.
Try going to Adventure Rider Motorcycle Forum If you go to the Old's Cool section, there is a huge "Cafe Racers" thread of almost 1700 posts. Surely someone there will have a good answer. Cafe racers [pics] - ADVrider

Z Power Goose
An English company Z-power who have lots of z parts, did a Mad Max Z1000. They provide a link with some useful photos. That KZ1000 already looks in a very nice condition, nicer than my KZ750 and I've been doing that up haphazardly for a bit.
