As previously posted, the rotor flywheel chucked and I need to replace it. Are there any sources for these? Any new (if the old ones disintegrate)?
Is this common? Thanks

The part number (21007-1076) for the rotor is shared only by the following four models:
ZN1100-B1 (LTD Shaft) (1984) ZN1100-B2 (LTD Shaft) (1985) ZX1100-A1 (GPz) (1983) ZX1100-A2 (GPz) (1984) Ron Ayers says it is $385.64. but Kawasaki says it's canceled. You could check with Ron Ayers to see if they are actually available, but I'd be scouring eBay for a used one. |

Yes, I've looked and gotten that info. from Babbits. Frankly, $400 ain't goin to happen. I'll get rid of the bike if it comes down to that, just not worth it.
I was wondering about an aftermarket source. I'm concerned about the risk of installing a used one. I have heard that this isn't uncommon. My bike only has 15k on it, so it is more an age thing I'm thinking. Was hoping to hear if other guys have had the prob as well, what their experience was, and thoughts on replacing with another old one. Thanks

This is the second time I've heard of it happening in the last five years, and I'm on 5 or 6 Kawasaki forums, so I wouldn't say it's common.
If you took some measurements and checked other KZ rotors I bet there are many more that will fit and work. Is your bike still fuel injected or does it have carbs? If it's now carbed you can downgrade the alternator to a weaker unit. I don't think there has ever been an aftermarket rotor produced for the 1100's, simply no demand for them. |
