I am stumped wanting to get rid of the loud and deteriorating supertrapp slip on that is on my 1990 ZX750R. (I am posting it here because the bike is old enough to require the creative solutions of the vintage bike crowd to solve this problem)
I am considering that there may not be any replacements being made for such a vintage bike, and I haven't found anything via the salvage dealers so far. I am considering if there is a way to retrofit some sort of universal baffle into the tail of the supertrapp and have a reversed cone bolted on to replace teh supertrapp's original butt plate. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tom |

Have you looked on ebay? I have seen complete systems on there as well as slip-ons and such. With ebay you just have to be patient and check it often because you never know when something you need will pop up.

If your handy with a welder, gut the pipe, take the baffle from any old pipe laying around, tack weld it in place, and weld a new end cap back on.
I just did that to the pipes on my old yami Midnight special.

If it is the 4" disc can with the six allen screws LocTite on the baffle screws around the can holding the base plate/baffle, use Anti-Seize on the disc retainer screws (stainless in steel can seize and remove some discs. Run maybe 8 or so, it shouldn't affect performance too much at 8, but eventually it will start to smother the bike as any baffle system will. No open end cap either. If you want to allow for more noise occasionally you could get their "Snuff-r-not" type end, otherwise just get one of the closed caps and run less discs. That was their big selling point. Parts are available if anything is missing. I run a Supertrapp on my KLX with 10 discs. It seems a bit loud to me, but it is just behind my back. My wife, friends, neighbors, and anyone else I've spoken to tells me it's not bad at all.
