My brother bought an 81 kz440 ltd but the place he bought it from is waiting on an air filter before they will let my brother take the bike. Well it is going on 3 weeks now and they still didn't get the air filter. I was looking on line for an air filter and was going to get it and bring it to the shop but I am not sure what one to get. There are a lot of different ones for the 440s does any one know what one he might need. and where I could get one. I would like to be able to buy from a place that will do overnight shipping if possible.
Thanks Just want to get his bike so we can go ridding together. |

So the D2's or D3's should fit on an 81 kz440 LTD? I would need two of them right? |

Well they put pods on it at the dealer. It was running like crap so we took some duck tape and cover about 1/4 of each pod and it runs a lot better now. Just a quick fix untill we can get around to rejeting it.

Ask the dealer for the stock airbox and ducts, avoid removing the carbs and rejetting altogether. If they put on pod filters they might still have the original parts. The dealer should have never put on pods if they werent planning on rejetting and attempting to tune to the best of their ability. Its a shame they put a bike on the street like that.

I disagree, you don't HAVE to swap jets, that's a pretty drastic startoff point. I got away with moving the needles to the highest point and it runs really well.
In any case, you will have to play around with the carb to get it running well again, but you'll likely get a little bit better low end out of it. |
