Default i have to remove the engine on my 1985 ltd 750 and im stuck. do i have to remove it f

i have to remove the engine on my 1985 ltd 750 and im stuck. do i have to remove it from the shaft first or am i going in the wrong direction? help please. thanks in advance!

Well the shaft is connected to the tranny, not the engine.

The shaft connects to the transmission spline with a pin. Loosen both clamps to the dust boot, slide it out of the way and rotate the shaft until you find the pin hole, use a punch or other hardened steel tool that fits into the hole to move the pin inward. Once released the shaft will slide off of the spline gear. WARNING: the pin will fall out once released - DON'T LOSE IT!

You will not need to remove the rear swing arm to remove the engine. Let me know if you need further help.
