Default Parts cross-reference

I have a 1983 KZ750 LTD (4 cyl, shaft drive). I believe it is a KZ750 N, but it may be a KZ750 F1. I'm not really sure. The stamp on the engine says KZ750NE014878, but the sticker between the forks says KZ750 F. I frequently look on Ebay for parts for it, and I find items for '80, '82, KZ750 H, KZ750 B, KZ750 Spectre, KZ750 Gpz, etc. Most of the time, they look the same and look like they'd work. However, I've occasionally ordered something that doesn't quite fit because it's a slightly different size or the mounting holes are in a slightly different location or whatever. Is there somewhere I can look to find out what parts will fit my bike? For example, will a seat off a 1982 KZ750 Spectre fit my 1983 KZ750 LTD? They look the same, but I'd hate to order it and find out the mounts are in a slightly different spot. Does anyone know of a website or manual that can be ordered to find out what parts are identical from year to year, model to model?

Thanks.

A couple things you can do... Go to www.buykawasaki.com and look at the parts diagrams under owner info for your bike. This will give you the part number. Buy some Kaw cross reference software from Steve Zedder www.zedder.com and then look up the parts number to see what crosses. Unfortunately, the seat you mentioned may or may not fit. The part number will surely be different just because of the style of the seat or its color... some things are hit or miss but electrical and engine parts will be more straight forward.

Based on the VIN, it looks like an F1.
