    Default 2nd Request - 71' Kawasaki Bighorn 350

Had no replies from my first post so thought I'd try one more time. Come on you ole' timers, I know your out there and know more than I do about this bike!

Bought a 1971 Kawasaki Bighorn 350 enduro class motorcycle. I know virtually nothing about the bike apart from the size and that it is a 2-stroke, 1 cylinder.
For instance - there is a lever next to the throttle with a large "S" stamped in it - what's this for?

Thx for reading and any help!

That's the "start" lever. That's what they called the choke lever. It's a richening device for cold starts. What do you need to know ? I grew up around older Kaws.I may be able to help.

    Thanks for the reply Zammy,

for one thing I just guessed at the hose routing for the carb. I got the fuel correct but there is a corssover hose to a fitting high on the carb, not sure about this one. There is a hose to attach it to but the hose is dangling outside of the engine.
I figured out which hose goes from the carb vaccum switch to the throttle body of the carb, i think that is correct.

If you have any thoughts - let me know.

Should be a carb vent hose. Do NOT block this hose off or you will have problems with the carb running correctly.

So this is a hose that just vents down towards the back of the engine? Much like a battery vent hose then.

I haven't much info on the bike you are interested in but as for carb hose routing, that is pretty much generic... see my web site. There is a link to VM carb connections that might be helpful.

yup. My KZ650 has the same setup. Two vent hoses come off the carb toward the back of the engine. I zip tied the loose ends to the outside of the frame.
