OK I am offficially obsessed. Does anyone know if there is a shop that specializes in properly restoring old KZ's? I am hell bent on getting a KZ1000 (early 80's I'm thinking) but I want it to be right...no way can I start a project or even a tweak project. I would be willing to pay extra $$$ for one ground up restored original. Any info?

I think ebay and craigslist are your best bets. These bikes are getting pretty long in the tooth, so if you want to own a 'restored' KZ, you'll have to look a little harder. Never heard of a shop that specializes is restored KZs, but you can restore it yourself... you should look for a bike that has as much original eqpt as possible. Sometimes, the owner will keep the original parts when he replaces them. Usually in a box in his basement.
We all dream of that "barn find". You know, the bike that's been sitting under a tarp in someone's barn or shed, rode 3 times, put away, and forgotten about. That'd be like finding buried treasure!

OK I am going to let u all know what was wrong with my ride.In a way it was power from my ignition system, but not direct current. It was rf interference....my high performance ignition was putting out too much power and there were standard plugs being used in the engine. All I had to do was use the same heat range in insulated plugs (since they looked good when i pulled them) and now the digital instuments work fine ...woot woot.
