Default Quick Question

To remove the cylinder block studs on my kz900 motor will I have to split the cases? Sorry if this is a dumb question but the manual offers no info on this...

About ten years ago when starting a new job the boss said to me "there's no such thing as stupid questions just stupid mistakes and if you're making mistakes I know it's because you weren't asking questions"! I like to use the the quote every now and then...

No case splitting required.

How do those studs come out? As I said there seems to be nothing in the manual. I don't know if they're pressed in or threaded or what... I think I'm gunna be splitting the cases anyway just to be sure the motor is clean!

They are threaded in. You won't have to split cases. You will have to remove head and possibly block if they are in good and seized. Double nutting may let you remove them. Be very careful about using vice grips or pipe wrenches. Heat may also be required. Sometimes they are in real real effing tight.

Thanks eh, at least now I know I'm doing the right thing by working on a way to turn them!
