The KHI (Kawasaki Heavy Industries) KZ750 shop manual (which includes your model) is free on-line ( The KZ/GPz Shop Manual 1980-1984 ) but it is a large download (44 mb)...If you prefer a hardcopy to thumb through, the manual is still available (used) on eBay, just keep checking if not immediately evident.

Well guys I got some close up pictures of the 750. It looks it's age. I don't care though, I'm tires of working on lawn mowers(Even though my lawn mower is a kawi) The bike is running and the tank looks scratched and dinged but nothing major in the dent catagory. The engine is screaming for paint. Unfortunatly the owner sent me photobucket picturs that I can't download, if you want to see them post an email address and I'll forward them. Mcdroid thanks for the link for the manual. The online manual leaves a little to be desired picture wise and the last line on most pages is chopped off. I bet it will help in a pinch or until I can get a hard copy. ELR658 how much did your manual cost you?

I don't know, as I got it as a screaming deal. ($35) Beartooth should be able to get one. The 1980-1988 KZ750 covers everything but UniTraks.

Default Pictures of the 750.

Took delivery of the bike. It's running well. I'm calling her my "Rolling-Running Basket Case". I'll get pictures of the whole bike soon. I was originally worried that the GREY engine was corrosion, but it turned out 27 years of being an air cooled engine burns up some paint.

The stupid Kaw dealer by me could not get one. Can you give me the phone number of your Kaw dealer. I'll buy it from him and have it shipped. I really appreciate it.

Quader
I'm wondering if your left and right controls for your E2 are the same as the 1982 R1
I need switches.

Go up one level to the forum index and ask for the pricing in the "Beartooth Kawasaki" forum. As a member you will receive a discount.

If worse comes to worse you can order one directly from Kawasaki as I ordered an owners and service manual for my Bayou 400 from there (before I knew I could order it from BTK).

HAILCON71,
Nice buy man; welcome to the club! And make sure that you get a factory manual.
On my bike: spring break was this past week and I got a chance to get the ZRX peg brackets welded to the frame, the jet kit installed (much love needed there...rotten o-rings, etc...), and a smokin' deal on a set of K&N tapered oval black-rubber (NOT chrome!) filters. I'll post pics soon, school is back in session Monday and my boy has been sick with the flu, so not much garage time.

Well I'm now in a love hate relationship with my R1. I bought it to work on it....and I'm working on it. I fixed the blinking battery warning light, it would drive me crazy to see that thing blink. The previous owner installed the sensor in the wrong cell. While removing the front wheel to change the bearings etc. I noticed the inside of the fender is all greasy-oily. I'm betting the fork plugs are leaking as the axle clamp-caps were oily. Question is do I need the special tool to remove the allen screw. (KHI manual Pg. 141) Is it just a socket on a long handle, if so what size is the socket.
Another question; as i am working multiple issues. There are two sets of fuses. One with three in a bus, and the other with two. The two fuse are for what, add on accessories? I'm chasing a Tach that has irregular reading, a set of horns with no power and no Hazard lights (I believe the hazard relay is working I swapped it with the directional circuit and could hear is clicking).
This thread is getting a little cold. Lets warm it up with some chatter while I got some money for parts. I have to deploy to the sand box soon and want to get the gremlins fixed so I can get to work on the carbs next.
Thanks for any future help guys.

Can't help with your electrical, but I can chatter. Got some pics to post too...as soon as the camera battery recharges (PO #1). Installed the jet kit and had to replace all the rubber o-rings on the brass fuel intake tubes, several philips head screws stripped out on removal, but I did it all at Extreme Cycle and Brian bailed me out of every jam I threw myself into. Got some used K&N tapered-ovals, cleaned 'em, oiled 'em, installed 'em. Installed the Russell speed-bleeders on the front calipers and bled 'em in no time. The brakes locked, so I need to take the calipers apart (PO #2). Got the passenger-peg mounting plates welded to the frame and tapped for the ZRX pegs; installed the ZRX passenger pegs. Got it home and threw the parts on and found that the 90* angled and tapered filter is likely a Kawasaki factory item that I'll have to get thru them (PO #3). Got the parts on, kicked the tires, turned the key, hit the starter and *sputter-sputter-pop-pop*.

Much consternation later and the F-king #1 spark-plug cap comes off in my hand whilst checking for spark, but whattaya want, the thing is 27 years old...maybe I need new wires. But also fuel is coming out the F-king carbs. Knowing that the carbs are clean and the floats are doing their thing I have to jump to the conclusion that the o-rings that I installed likely were too small (they were...) and fuel is escaping past. (****sssed Off Finale!!!).

I'm takin' a muther-luvin' break from that green beeoootch and I'll catch up with you guys later. FAHQ!

-KR

PS> At least the pegs look good and the Kerker mod is looking like it is going to work.

Ha! Well, if you're a soldier, just know that me and my family pray for you and we appreciate what you do. Wish you had your carbs with you...give that M16 field cleaning kit something fun to do!
