So, for my first post here, I just made a deal to get my old '82 GPz750 back home. This bike has a long and interesting story, but I've missed it every since I folded to my buddy out in R.I. and sold it to him. I scored some hot-rod parts for his CB1100F and coerced him into a trade to get my little gem back in the garage. Probably won't pick it up until summer, but once again...she's mine!
Anybody out there have one of these rare bikes? |

Welcome, and Congrats on reclaiming your baby.
You'll post pics when you get her home yes?

Thanks guys!
Tod: Yes, of course...gotta post pics. I'm in Kansas and won't get any time to go get it until the end of the semester; it's up in Rhode Island (did I spell that right?) but it's in good hands. LuvmyGPz: Actually, yes...very, very much like that! Throw on the obligatory ELR stripes and "wah-lah", that'd be my bike! AND, throw in a '76 CJ-5 with electric maroon paint, Hurricane II wheels wearing 33s, and a custom interior and the 4x4 package would have been 'close' to your set up ... 'great minds', eh? (sent the Jeep down the road to its new owner last year...20yrs of solid service and over 200K on the clock...not bad for the tired old 304 V-8 BTW, I have your avatar in hard-backed poster form over my 1yr old boy's crib...he says "mo-mo" and points to it every night...cool! |

Ahh... Great minds indeed.
I have the ELR stripes sitting on the shelf ready to go. Been too busy with other projects. Like fork seals, cold starting issues and exhaust leaks. As for the Bronco. I have had it for 18 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything. Four years ago I gave away the tired, oil-burning 302 w/184K on it and replaced it with a built 351W. I stole the avatar from eBay but back in the early 80's I cut out the ad from a magazine and it has been framed in my workshop ever since. I would love to find a quality poster size version. Welcome back.

Back to the GPz: it's an interesting story. An aquaintance of mine runs a wholesale car business and he came across the GPz years ago. He is a few years older than me and he used to race "back in the day", now his kid races, so he thinks that he's still in-the-know when it comes to bikes. (Reader's Digest version here Terry was right...I was giggling as I trailered the thing home. I left out a ton of stuff that went along with the story; but that's the gist of it. I am seriously jonesing to get that thing back! |

Your friend is going to have a good looking Bronco Stargate. I would love to do that to mine someday.
True story: My wife used to drive the Bronco from Simi Valley to Long Beach every day. She was used to guys coming up to her and asking if it was for sale or otherwise using it as a pretext to talk to her (they still do). One day at a gas station someone came up and said, "There isn't a guy with a hair on his a** that does not want one of those!" I always thought that was funny.

I've got an 82 KZ750R1 Gpz. I got it about 2 years ago as a old style dream bike and after dropping a grand on to trestore to running order I'm still havinng problems with the starter clutch and now the carbs are leaking. Nice bikes if yoyu have one in good shape or know how to work on them, i'm about ready to give up. My wife tells me to sell it.
Good luck. Jim |

Ok...picked this up a few years ago...got a good deal on it. I drive it once in a great while....I may be willing to part with it in the near future. Has 11K miles, new tires and rebuilt carbs. The bike is mint, no chips or scratches or tears and it runs great.
