    Default Ignition wire question

Before I ask this question I'm going to state my experience with plug wires.I have changed many sets of wires on a car - they all have had boots on both ends of the wire that simply unplug from the distributor. Easy.

I want to change the ignition wires of my KZ. The wires are on the coils pretty good. They don't want to come off with little effort, to the point they almost seem as though they are part of the coil assembly. I don't want to ruin anything by tugging even harder on them to get them off. Is this normal ? Is there a trick to getting them off ? Or do you just pull till they seperate ?

I'm pretty certain from the looks of them they are the factory coils.

Any help or advice, as always, is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

If it's a set of coils that have the little screw on caps, (which means you can actually change the wires) then the wires unscrew from the coil. I usually just clip ¼" off the end, regrease with some dielectric grease, and screw them back on.
If you don't have the little caps on the coils, and they aren't aftermerket, then the wires are probably molded into the coils and are not replaceable.
It's not how fast you go, it's how little you slow.

    Thumbs up dyna coils

    Skunkwurcx,
I would save up your money for a set of dyna coils. I put some on my 1980KZ750H1 4 cylinder and have not regretted it. And invest a little also in a good set of performance plug wires to go with them. Just make sure you order the correct ohms as your original bike requires.
