Thumbs up Front Master Cylinder View Glass Replacement

Does anyone know where to get the Replacement View Glass for the front Master Cyliner for a 79 St Shaft which fits a ton of other Kawasaki's. I have my Parts catalog but it does not show just the View Window just shows the P/N for the master cylinder. Thanks

I don't believe Kawasaki sells just the sight glass by itself. I have a master cylinder from a 650 CSR that I managed to break while cleaning it out. I'm 99% sure I will be able to use the oil level sight glass from the clutch cover to repair this but as of yet I haven't gotten around to fixing it.

Someone else posted they replaced it with a dime and some epoxy. You can probably do the same or use a dime size piece of plexiglass. If you want to take the time to fab up the tools you could cut a replacement from glass.

I've got a diamond wet grinder I use for my stained glass projects. No need to fab tools.

Or you could use a drill press with the proper size tubing and cutting compound. Have you tried using that wet grinder for polishing stone? It will do a nice job. I used to make jewelry.

Oh, thanks, Mike. Visions of stained glass side covers just came to mind. It would look so cool with the paint job I have.

Haven't tried it on any stone. Seems a bit coarse for that application. I've always been interested in those polished stones and how they look when finished.

Well I've made everything from mini tiffany lamp style night lights up to an 8' wide 2.5' tall arch top window insert. I guess side covers would just add to the assortment. Haven't done any of it in a few years and don't have my cutting table set up since my last move.

Wonder if I could still use the plastic frames to hold the stained glass in place?

The mc site glass appears to be the same size as the oil level gauge...

The oil level gauge is listed as Active at Kawasaki.com - RonAyers.com shows a price of $8.48 (Kaw part #52005-1009).

Z1Enterprises.com lists an oem oil level gauge for $13.75 - 52015-004. JMK.
When you say oil level gauge, I take it you mean the sight glass? Well, you must have a different bike, on mine the oil sight glass is probably as big as a quarter, while the MC sight glass on the brake and clutch can't be any bigger than a dime.

How would you incorporate the chain mesh to stained glass? It would be nice with lighting behind it though.

Though the feasibility seems nigh impossible, even I have to concede that backlit sight glasses in tinted colors like red, orange or green would be real trick. Where do I sign up for em?

I took some photos today of my MC on the brake side - the clutch side was nearly identical. Hold your comments on the gunk on the walls, I see it too. The level is low because I drained it a little so you could see the back of the sight glass better. There seems to be a metal bracket in the way of directly swabbing the plastic lens, so I'm at a loss for how to clean it.
