If it's set up like mine. The outside cab vacuum ports are connected to the vacuum assembly up under the tank. The port on the second carb in on the left is attached to the fuel petcock. I hope that helps. Mine is an 82 750ltd.

if i get this right carbs 1, 3,4 are attached to the vaccum hose, and carb 2 goes directly to the petcock?

i tried placing the hoses like you said. it worked. another problem now. the bike will idle around 4-5000 rpm. when i give it throttle it drops to 1000. do i have the throttle cables backwards. any suggestions?

Look at the carbs as you open the throttle. It should be lifting (pulling up) as it goes from idle position toward full throttle. Don't think it can be installed backwards. I suspect you have an air leak around your carb holders. Check to make sure all the vacuum hoses are good/no cracks and that all unused ports are capped off. Use some spray carb cleaner and spray around the boots from all angles while it's idling and listen for an rpm change when you hit the leaky spot.

Possible on a double cable set up. Maybe someone installed them backwards at the grip.

Assuming you have the engine rpm decreasing with throttle application fixed, I would strongly recommend a valve adjustment before you synch the carbs up. With the right tools, this is not too difficult to do. Are you located in Baltimore?

it takes alittle while to get the bike started when cold. when it is running, you give it throttle the rpms decrease, but when warm the throttle responds correctly. I live in baltimore area

I'm in Silver Spring. I am swamped with work until mid Aug but after that I can swing up that way and lend a hand with your bike. Shoot me a PM, and we can work out the details.

Sounds like it's either not getting enough fuel from the petcock (try a secondary fuel tank such as a 20 oz. bottle with a nipple) or the vacuums are not getting along (connect 3 & 4 with a small piece of hose, 1 to the petcock & cap off 2)

To sync the carbs without a sync tool just get a few feet of clear tubing & some motor oil or tranny fluid to put in the tubing (just enough to see the ripples/waves).. Connect 1 & 2 using the tubing and adjust the butterfly screw until you get the fluid to stay in place. Do the same for 3 & 4 then finally sync the 2 sides. Might want to make a spare fuel tank from a bottle to make the process much easier
