eBay can be a pretty good indicator of what bikes will sell for but it kinda depends on the location where it's sold. If you are an account holder, you can search what Spectres and other Kaws sold for the past 60 days with detailed pics, condition descriptions, etc. With gas so high now, demand is up.

If it were mine. I'd price it at $10,000 and hope no one would buy. Since it is yours. I'd be hoping you were close and wanting less than $1000. Check Ebay listings and Craigslist.

I bought my '82 1100D1 Spectre New in '82 and I don't believe that this bike came from the factory dressed, it might have been dressed in color matched "Kawasaki by Vetter" fairings (upper and lowers) and side bags and trunk by the dealer, but I'm sure it did not come from Japan like that. Mine is dressed in this way and it looks like it came that way, but they are after-market add-ons (made in the good ol' USA). I just bought another '82 1100D1 Spectre for $530.00 on e-bay that I also intend to restore. I'm thinking of picking up the 750 and 550 versions in the future. LOVE THE SPECTRE'S -----"electricbucky" it shows that you have only posted 1 time since 5-08 you don't seem to be serious about your inquiry, if I'm wrong reply and post some pics of your bike.

Would you mind snapping some pics of it? I'm feverishly searching for some kind of luggage option for my bike and any reference picture helps my cause a bit. Spectre's for life!

I will try to get some pics for you real soon. The only real option that looks good and is the option that was originally offered at the dealerships are the "Kawasaki by Vetter" fairings. I'll keep a look out for the Vetter fairings for you. They don't really have to be colored in the Spectre theme, you can have them custom painted to match and they would look better than new, the originals were just decals. Mounts just have to fit the kz1100 "LTD" or "Spectre" I've been reading your restoration project with great interest and by your pics it appears that you've done a great job and the bike appears "pristine", I'm green with envy.

Killbert, I just checked e-bay and there are a few Vetter Windjammers listed. There is also a instruction booklet listed that show the fairing with the lowers. The fairing, bags and box are all the same, the differences are in the mounting brackets. You might want to pick up what you can and fabricate the mounts later. If you were close you could copy mine. this trunk could be repaired or you could wait for another, I'd try to find one in better shape eBay Motors: KZ1100 KZ 1100 1000 VETTER SADDLEBAG SADDLE BAG TRUNK (item 140273451565 end time Feb-03-09 16:57:52 PST) these are the bags, you could modify the mounts eBay Motors: Vetter hardcase side sadlebags 1970's Luggage (item 160311234055 end time Jan-27-09 15:19:46 PST) The picture on this instruction sheet show the fairing with the lowers, note the molded in turn signals eBay Motors: Vetter Windjammer SS Fairing OWNERS MANUAL, FULL DETAIL (item 360125162690 end time Feb-17-09 17:50:09 PST) Just keep checking e-bay and search for "Vetter" Get what you can and in the future if you find better you can list and sell the rest. I'll try and get you pics of mine real soon. If you can tell me how to post pics here, when I click the pic icon it wants a web address?? I'll be switching to a thread started by you.

Cool Kawasaki Spectre 1100

To Electricbuckey:

I just purchased a 1982 Kawasaki Spectre 1100 from its original owner. It was full dressed with the vetter equipment, which the Dealer special ordered and installed, complete with trailer hitch. I bought the motorcycle with only the rear vetter luggage bags for $1900. This is a fine motorcycle with only 25,000 original miles. She purrs like a kitten when cruising at slow speeds, but has a huge "punch" when you downshift and wrap up the R's. This is all the motorcycle that I will ever need!

I love my Kawasaki!

You don't really have to down shift and get the R's up, The 1100 has plenty of "Roll on Power" just twist the throttle. So is your bike fully dressed? Or do you just have the tail section? You can see some pics of my bike at my "Myspace" page under "pics" "Bike trip to Alaska". I'd like to see pics of your bike. I will post some here as soon as I figure how. I tried once and for some reason it didn't take. I might try to find the trailer hitch option just to have it, though I'd probably never use it. I also have the "Vetter Cycle Sound" stereo.

I don';t know if you mean with a faring by full dressed.
I bought a "82 KawKZ 750N Spectre in '83 and had it 2 yrs. Ever since then I wanted another one and finally got a '82 KZ 1100D Spectre in '08. It needs serious TLC, and I'm basically having to go through the entire thing to get it road ready. I have the same passion for these bikes as you guys, and can't even imagine owning anything else. I recently found a Kaw '82 KZ 1100 D Spectre on craigslist for 500 Bucks with 12,000 miles...what a steal ! The only other one I ever saw full dressed was an '83 KZ750N2 Spectre on E-bay with a factory? Farring...nice!
