Ok, so i got my license last april and the day after i bought an 81 gpz 550. Just saying i'm new to it incase i say any no brainers, pleas ebe kind. Anyway the bike has been very good to me and i'm quite fond of it. when i got the bike it had a non functional after market fork pressure gauge with tubes running from the forks. I took it off and soon realized i was being sprayed by fork oil when i hit bumps due to the holes left in the caps from the absent tubing. So for a quick fix i just shoved to little pieces of the tubing with melted ends in there to keep it from spraying. fast forward to a couple weeks ago i decided to replace my fork seals that went pretty smoothly but now the one rubber cap flies off when i press down ont he suspension. i rode without the caps and got sprayed with fork oil again (at least this time it was clean oil). So i can't think of what to do. first thing i thought was perhaps i put the forks up too high (i made the rim flush with the triple trees) but i'm fairly certain that's how they were. the caps seem to fit right the one side just seems to be shooting too much air/oil out. I'm rambling now. i hope someone can help. thanks in advance.
