Default Electronic Ignition for '77 KZ1000-LTD

Has anybody out there put in one of the Dyna 2000 ingnitions? If so, how did it work out? Any install problems? Was the performance better? Was it worth it?

How about other types of electronic ignitions? Let me know what and how it worked out.

Thanks.

Haven't installed one but my understanding is that the 2000 is more of a drag/racing bike unit for variable timing curves and the Dyna S is for upgrading points ignition to electronic and much cheaper than the 2000.

The Dyna-S is an economical replacement for points. Simple to install and reliable. The down side is it still uses the factory mechanical advancer.

The Dyna 2000 is much more sophisticated. The ignition advance is all electronic - so say goodbye to the mechanical advancer. In the 'out the box' form, you have a handful of selectable advance / retard curves. With the optional software programming kit, you can tailor your ignition settings using a PC. You get an adjustable built-in rev-limiter, security cut-out and feeds for an electronic tach.

On most stock or near stock street bikes, the Dyna-S is all you need. Once you step up and start adding higher performance components in the engine, the Dyna 2000 is the way to go.

I run a Dyna 2000 on my 1200cc turbo'd Z1 - the retard curve settings are really essential for a turbo setup.

Take note of the Z1enterprises link in Jeff's post. They sell the Dyna S for a reasonable price and have quick shipping. Good vendor.
