1978 Kz1000 Fork Oil Capacity

I'm curious if anyone has the spec for the fork oil capacity on a 1978 kz1000 LTD. Also, I'm debating if I need to replace the fork seals. Is any amount of oil residue (in this case, a thin schmear) considered normal, or should the upper tubes remain dry?

Don't know the specs for the oil but the tubes should be dry. If you have any residue on them then the seal is leaking and will only get worse with time.

I actually have found a range of capacities ranging from 170 to 188cc's per tube and a weight range of 10w to 20w. I've got new seals on order. Thanks!
