Bobber or Chopper ??
Hello I have been viewing this sight for a while and I know there are some very talented people here and I need some help. I have an 82 kz1000 that is going to be a chopper or bobber. The bike runs great but is very ugly. I am able to build the frame, sheet metal, exhaust, bars ect. I just need some help with the design. I have never built a chopper / bobber from a 4 cylinder bike only v twins. I thought maybe some of you could post some Kawasaki chopper / bobber photos or links. Thanks for the great forum, CLC |

I don't know how to tell the model. The guy I bought the bike from said it was a J model. The bike is old dirty with missing parts and rust on the frame. The motor runs too good so I have to do something with it. You are right that is not a very attractive motorcycle. I cant leave a bike in stock form for any amount of time. To me stock sucks
.Bobber (motorcycle) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search A BobberA Bobber is a style of custom motorcycle that took shape in the 1950s and continues to be built today. Bobbers are related to choppers in that they both represent a minimalistic approach where everything is stripped from a bike that is not readily needed. This includes the characteristic rigid frame and shortened ("bobbed") rear fender. The principle difference between bobbers and choppers is that bobbers are typically built around unmodified frames while chopper frames are often cut and welded into shape. They also often lack most of the chopper's asthetic characteristics such as chromed parts and enlongated forks. Thus, bobbers are fairly easy to create from stock motorcycles and are generally handbuilt. Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobber_(motorcycle)" |

I vote bobber. I generally think chopper projects are hideous. Bobber all the way. Keep it simple, but keep the frame stock. We don't need another wannabe over raked standard bike. Just my opinion.
That Lucky 7 thing is awesome, I especially like the red chain.

Or you could just do a Mad Max looking rat bike. Check out the "bat bike" thats been floating on this forum. He did a great job.

82 1100D Spectre. It is original, dirty, and my rat bike. It is so ugly no one would even think of stealing it. It is the bike I ride back and forth to work. I ride through a la-de-da town and the cops give me the evil eye. They don't pull me over anymore, all of them have done it, because they don't want "my kind" in their town. I get away with it because I am a senior citizen. I would like a set of 4 inch over forks for it though. However, I don't know if anyone makes them any more. They probably would cost more than the bike is worth.....have fun with your project. The only mods I do is a comfy seat and handlebars that fit me better.....chris3

Bobber.
That motor is all about performance, and a chopper is on the opposite end of that spectrum. The bike would make a decent street-figher (cafe racer), and it will still be a good ride in the corners.

I'm curently working on a '82 kz1000p I'm turning into a chopper... don't know if it'll be called a chopper or a bobber, but hey thats up to peoples opInions...
