1981 550 - info, please

I am REALLY new to motorcycles. I just put money down on a 1981 Kawasaki 550 until I can do some research. I don't yet know the exact model, etc. Can anyone help me with any information about the 550 cc bikes of this year. Anything you know would sure help.

Hi and welcome aboard nitwit.
The 550 is a great bike choice. They are just the nicest all round bikes to own and ride. Mine's an '83 model and I especially like it's CV carbs, shaft drive, 6 spd transmission, electronic ignition, 10,000 RPM redline, reliability, pep, horsepower:weight ratio, and fuel economy. Yours is probably an KZ or GPZ. For specs on them try this link for the bike encyclopedia;
