kl250 1980, need help!

I'm trying to find a cdi box to a kl 250 '80, that doesn't cost a fortune, which seems quite impossible. I'v tried ebay and different e-stores and I was wondering if there's another model that might work ? like a klx250? they look quite similar...

I would be so happy if anyone knew anything that might help me!

If by CDI box you mean an igniter, the part number Kawasaki shows is 21119-1006 it was only used on the following models
Model (3):
KL250-A3 (KLR250) (1980)
KL250-A4 (KLR250) (1981)
KL250-A5 (KLR250) (1982)

That looks like it will be a pretty costly and difficult part to find. Ron Ayers shows a price of $426.43 OUCH! Depending on the value and condition of the bike one other option might be to get a standard point ignition system from an earlier KL250 or an LTD 250 or possibly a KLT200 3 wheeler and just adapt that to what you now have.

Edit: after posting that suggestion about changing over to a point ignition system I remembered that your bike is set up as a 6 volt system where the KLT and the LTD are both 12 volt systems so they would not likely work very well. The earlier KL250's from either 78 or 79 should have used a 6 volt system with points though.
