Another spot for bikers is Passo Giau, which I know for certain is in the Dolomites. Awesome place! I've convinced Stefano he has to go there and post a pic. Here's a pic of me at the base of GG Pass. You can see an example of the locals wanting biker dollars. The "Harley Only" sign was on the main drag of the village you see in the background. ![]()

OK, I just heard back from Stefano. GG is in the Austrian Alps. Also, he says that the term "Alps" generally refers to a whole bunch of mountain ranges in the region, and the Dolomites are considered part of the Alps as well.
As far as the word "Zimmer" which appears on both signposts, while I was picking up some gherkins at my favorite German deli, I asked what that word meant. It means "Rooms(for rent)".

"Sweet bike "Rat", but this thread is about YOU. Got any pics so some of our South West Members might recognize you at your local Bike Night?"
I posted this one a while back when I first got my bike. ![]() Last edited by Azpackrat85 : 07-06-2008 at 01:27 PM. Reason: Add quote |

![]() Hi to all. New to the site. Name is Dave, located in Central Illinois. Ride is a 99 Vulcan Classic. Got my license three years ago after divorce. First bike was 2001 Kaw 750. Upgraded the next year to the 1500. First nice trip was two years ago. Buddy and I rode to Washington DC. He is a VietNam vet and wanted to see the Wall. I went to see the WWII memorial. My dad was a WWII Vet and passed away prior to the completion. Last trip was a couple of weeks ago. Went up through Michigan, over on the ferry to Wisconsin and back home. About a 1000 mile trip. Nice to meet all of you and Ride Safe.Dave |
