Default My ZL900 Eliminator

Here is my 1985 ZL900 A1 Eliminator; It's all original, save the exhaust pipes, and the photograph was taken Saturday, June 8th/08, when I brought it home. 9300 original miles. Anyone know where I can find some oem pipes? hahahahaha. and a bank loan?

Very nice. Keep the rubber side down, and welcome to BTK.

Thanks; great set of pics of your Dragon Run! I especially liked the 2-stroke group, as my last bike before the Eliminator was an RZ350(red&white).....

Default Oh...and....

And here's what got me going on my 20 odd year search for the right ZL900....my 1986 ZL600! The guy that I sold it to in 1989(pictured with bike;no, that's not me)blew the engine inside of six months.

Oh...and I won't be showing brakelights for a little while yet; I broke the middle finger of my clutch hand at work yesterday...but I waited 19 years, I guess I can wait another couple of weeks.

Great pic.

Nice set of Motorcycle Boots would really complete that look.

Very nice! I too found a keeper when I located a 1985 that has been under a cover for 10 years with 14k on it. Nearly flawless condition. I have the original pipes and they don't have a single scratch! (WINK) Okay... Kawasaki says they still have the right side but in limited quantity. That means buy it now or it will be gone and no more will be made. The left shows as inactive which means inventory is depleted and no more will be made. $350 for the new unit. Not too bad IMHO. Perhaps you will get luck and find a left that hasn't been abused or laid-down. Good luck!

Bry,

Seattle...that's only 3 or 4 tanks of gas away! haha. Very nice looking ZL900, glad to see you were able to find one too. That's funny about Kawasaki....my dealer told me that only the LEFT side was available(from Japan), and quoted me $489!!! I am looking at a set on Ebay, with luck I'll be able to pick those up. There was an original owner's manual on there that just went for $45....but I have both shop manuals, so I didn't bother... I'll send you a message if I'm ever cruising down Seattle way...

You probably know this but you can go to Kawasaki.com and see the parts diagrams. It also tells you if the part is still available. The Kawasaki site does NOT give prices but there are many Kawasaki dealers online that have parts diagrams with prices. The prices shown by dealers are almost always MSRP and should not vary too much. I think most dealers are honest and fair so I'm curious why the high price (and the wrong side) from the dealer you contacted. Yeah... I saw that owners manual on eBay and put a bid on it. Just as I was thinking about using Buy It Now, someone beat me to it. DOH! Supid me. It's the one thing I would like to have that I don't. Well, I would like to have the factory tool kit as well - just because. So... yes... Vancouver isn't too far. If you are ever heading down Seattle way, say the word and we can hook up. I'll do the same if I am coming north!

Very nice. You did a lot of good work on that bike. Is that a larger tank?

Hi
Yea it has got a larger tank on it, it needs 1, drinks a lot fuel. Tank size is about 12 litres...but i still only get 100 miles per tank...going down to France on it next month so there will be lots of stops.

Sounds like kind of a nice trip. Do you have any issues riding of wet roads with
the duckbill removed?
