What about a 19" spoke rim off of an 800?

Default not sure they ever made a 19" 800 wheel

I thought only the 1500's and 500's came with a 19" front wheel, but I could be wrong, as I am no expert.

or was it a 19"? I don't remember. The bobber I just finished is an 800A and I swapped out the front wheel with a 16" off of a classic.

Yeah I think mine is the classic and it comes with a 21" front 16" rear. The drifter has the 16" front and rear.

The A model comes with the 21" wheel. The B model "classic" comes with the 16" wheel.

If it is rigid anyways with the coils being so tough I would just get rid of them. The bike is already a soft tail so they are not needed and it won't jack your seat height up 4". It is similar to a guy wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time, not needed. Never trust a man who doesnt trust his own pants! IMO Good luck with the build, they are a lot of fun, especially since you sai dyou were doing the tank mod.

they have already been removed, i haven't updated it yet, but i put a wider seat.

the springs were actually there because if i mounted it rigid the seat hit the fender on sharp edged bumps because it was a bit too long.

the new seat hits when I bottom out, but that will be remedied when i put the sporty tank on and move the seat forward.

Talking

well, I bit the bullet and bought a 16 incher for the front. What all is different between the axle on the A vs. the Bl? I don't have a repair manual so I can't compare an exploded view. Worst comes to worst, I'll just head down to the dealership and have them show me.

on an unrelated note, I went for my first extended ride on my new seat and it is a huge improvement over the old one. 170 miles and no tailbone pain.

All you have to do is put your bearings from your A in the B hub.

Default New wheel all mounted up

Got it all mounted up, I didn't think the caliper would fit at first, but it did.

Rides like a dream, it is probably the single best thing I have done for the bike. I can't believe how it changes the character of the bike.

I really need to get the lowers blacked out now.

Yeah good idea to ditch that cap. You just stay simple and get a regular screw in type.
