Default My KZ1000 K1. Finally posting pictures

Alright I have been a lurker here for several years and have been posting fairly regularly for a month or so. So I have yet to post up my bike
    '81 KZ1000 LTD

I bought her the end of this summer for a steal. Basically I sold my KZ750 LTD with 32xxx miles that had been wrecked and bought this bike with money left over.

The bad (at time of purchase)...
    Really dirty, greasy and grimy
Carbs where pretty gunked up, it ran but not well
Petcock was all screwed up, homemade gaskets in it that leaked and then a secondary valve after the petcock that also leaked
Pretty decent oil leak from valve cover gasket
    Speedometer just quit working
Had hardbags that where all busted up

    The good part...
    5,001 miles
    Seat was in great shape
Although it was very dirty and greasy the chrome was all in great shape and the paint was good too. (cleaned up very nicely)
    Price was way low.

So I got her all cleaned up, went through carbies, took off hard packs, fixed petcock and drove her around for a few hundred miles.

    This winter...
I am in the process of rejetting the carbs for the pods.
Need to do coil relay mod to hopefully fix spark problem that is making tuning hard.
    Just fixed the speedo.
Going to go through the breaks (the fluid is the not uncommon orange chunky looking stuff)
    Need new back tire.
    Need chain and sprockets soon.
Need to find some turn signals that I like.
    Probably change fork oil.

    So finally.. pictures

I also have a luggage rack and sissy bar that will go back on it sometime and I am going find some saddle bags that I like.

And a little about myself I guess.
    Names Bartley
I am 19, a third year mechanical engineering student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am originally from North Dakota.
I sold my first bike 83 KZ750 LTD this summer and currently own the kz1000 and a 91 zx600.
I love riding around town but I would much prefer getting on the highway. Someday I want to go coast to coast.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Your bike is very clean. Is the windshield the same as the one on your 750?

Different windshield. Pretty similar though. The windshield on the 750 was broken in the accident

I see you own an 83 750 shaft. The pic of my 750 must look pretty familiar then.

Yeah, here's a pic of the lil shafty. Yours seems to be pretty clean.
Not in the pic but it also has a backrest and big luggage rack now.LOL
I'm working on some brackets to mount some highway pegs.
Are those LTD handlebars on your 750?
