Default Gotta have b@lls to work on ignition switch

After getting my ignition re-keyed by the local locksmith, I had trouble putting it back on the bike. Soooo, I opened up the back, and began removing the contents. Lo and behold, found two ball bearings in the bottom, running loose. After lots of study, figured out they went into two columns, each filled with a tiny copper spring. In order to seat the ball bearings, and still re-assemble the ignition lock, I opted to use petroleum jelly to hold the ball bearings in place while I artfully put the mess I made back together.

And yes, the old girl cranked right up when I asked her to. Miracles DO happen!

I guess you could use vaseline on the balls as well. I have never found it to be a nessesity myself but if it turns your key than go for it.
