Okay, so I've been having some trouble with the ACCT on my bike. Couple of nights ago I pulled all the screws off in an attempt to take it off, and look it over. (Basically this involves removing two acorn bolts and a flanged screw). Unfortunately, the engineers at mama Kaw decided that the ACCT on the front jug was the perfect place to a connection for the external oil line. This means that you essentially have to remove the fuel tank, and carberator to remove the oil line, to get at a part that's otherwise held in by two screws.
(OORRRrrr, you can just bend the connector Anyway, I THOUGHT I screwed them back on, but this appears to be not the case. (Maybe they worked loose during the ride) Got on the bike to take a ride the next morning.... Went for quite a ways, maybe 40-50 miles, thinking everything was fine, but the ACCT was sounding a bit loud. Looked down, and there was oil all over the engine. I quickly turned around and headed for home. Unfortunately, since the ACCT is so high on the front jug, it was able to get oil in quite a few places, including on the pipes.... As I was sitting at a light, the bike started to smoke, which was embarrashing.... BUT what was worse was having a very attractive woman roll down her window and say "Is your bike on fire?" So, I explained about the oil leak, and rode home in shame....Got the parts on order, so I should be able to fix the ACCT, and replace the bolts. So, remember kids, ALWAYS put the bike back together, because you might not remember the next day that you didn't tighten the bolts on something.

I'm glad the leak didn't cause any excitement with your rear tire. |

BTW, having the oil leak was actually a good thing, since I put a little too much in during the oil change. (Which might have been the reason why the ACCT started acting up in the first place.)

Better than driving down the highway and suddenly remembering that you forgot to tighten down the bolts on your targa top and watching it go flying off into the air only to drop down on the highway 50 yards behind you
