ill admit it! im braking even every single month! I can only save during the summer... when I make about 120% more per month than during the year... so I figure two summers and then buy the bike during the winter when the prices drop...

so I gess my sister will have to wait untill next summer to ride lol

Default First ride on wet roads

This was not my first ride on wet roads overall, but my first ride on wet roads with this bike..

I span the rear a few times w/o meaning to... road was very slippery as today was the first rain of the season... that is still no excuse...

My bike is a beast! and I still have not learned to tame it! as long as the ground is wet there will be no lane splitting for me.... so it better clear up by tomorrow's rush hour ride to work! lol

Serious where did the rain come from...I took a late afternoon quick ride and it rained...I sorta tamed down and notched down a little. No sense in eating since it hasn't rained since March and I am sure the junk is just coming up now...Yeah ziging inbetween cars will be kept to a minimum for sure...I hope it does not rain tomorrow.

I gess I will now start carrying my rain gear in my back pack permanently..

Also I could not care less if my EX500 got wet, but his one.. this is my baby!

be safe tomorrow... and remember just cause it starts raining doesnt mean that you have to put your bike away!

I dont like riding a bikein the rain... it is too stressing.. it seems as though drivers driving skill is lowered when it rains.. so dealing with that is no fun...

To me riding a bike when it rains is just as bad as driving a car... but at least the car is safer...

you mean they actually slow down?

I remember last rainy season it was pouring down and people where doing 60mph cause it was raining so much I was riding on water so I slowed down to 50, and then a person two cars in front of me was suddendly on the shoulder facing opposite traffic... did anyone slow down??? NO!

there is a turn that I used to take fast on the freeway (when dry) I would always slow down to 40 mph, get on the slow lane and I would get passed like no tomorrow when it was raining... I really dont understan theese drivers...

that explains it all!

thank you for shedding some light on this seeming ly more and more common problem avery day...

then again lack of common sense usually answers many of the problems that we face on the road... ie. Some one changes into our lane... hm wouldnt it make sense to look where you are going to go? just to see if there is even road there?!

fisrt ride in pretty darn heavy rain with new bike...

things I found out... my bike will loose traction under hard acceleration... 1st and 2nd gears...

I can still accelerate at a good pace... but it is if I over do it that I get weel spin...

sliding during a low speed corner (ie right turn after a stop sign)... I need to practice on wet.. cause once the back end is loose it doesnt stop! I had to cut the throttle to make it stop...

I am paranoid about turning and leaning it on wet so I will not be testing the limmits any time soon...

I can actually brake a lot with the front weel.. I got it to lock, but I was surprised I had to brake THAT much for it to happen...

ride safe! tis slippery out there!

You know this thread has been here for a month and i have never looked at it.. i do and i find its an I LOVE ZZR thread.. sooo i guess ill have to throw my hat in the ring too

Thmastr im curious as to where you sit on your seat?? i sit as far forward as humanly possible on the seat, which is the most comfortable for me, but i find that moving just an inch or two back really changes the ergos, and switching between the three positions (full up, and inch back and two inches back) helps keep my wrist (or butt) from being stuck in one position for too long~ i know its time to switch when my left wrist get a little dull ache haha..

I also agree with you on getting used to it.. the first few days i was riding it it really felt kinda torturous on my body, but as i got used to it, its calmed down quite a bit.

btw, your right, the bike is VERY VERY fast

you finally got it bronken in?

isnt it awesome??!!!

When I am in the city I will usually be touching the tank since whenever I brake I slide forward..

In the twisties I ride in the center, since it gives me more room to move about if I choose to hang off a bit..

When I tuck in, or I am tired of possition 1, (and I am not wearing a back pack) I will sit back far enough so I feel the back seat on by upper butt.

For me there is no other way if I want to tuck in below the wind shield..

By the way today I found out that carrying a box of pizza on the tank w/o having it secured is a challenge...

The box slid back when I got on the gas, and whent forward when I hit the brakes...

Turning was fine since I was not going fast at all and since the bike leans the box stayed on the same spot...

I was tip toeing the pegs so my knees would also help form a barrier for the box...

I split to the front of the lane today during a light.

When the light turned green I gassed it since I want to get out of the inbetween thing and into my own lane...
I was really gassing it and I whent over a crest (not too little) caused by the two streets meeting. Needless to say the front came up. I didnt plan on this so I got off of the throttle and then I slipped forward into my tank... then got on it again to attempt to have a smooth landing. After about 4 lights and 2 miles down the road I was still feeling some "disconfort" (to say the least) from this..
