I lost me keys 2 weeks ago out of state on a navy base. Came out of meeting and couldn't get in the truck. Had to have a locksmith get me in the truck then I had to "steal" my own truck to get home. Took 2 hours just to get the guy on base. Hardest part was bypassing security system to get fuel pump power.

Last trip we did I had my regular key plus a set for both bikes. My wife had her regular key plus a set for both bikes. Three keys for each bike split between two people. the chances of losing one are high enough, but losing three, slim.

I always wire tie a key in a hidden spot on the bike. Nowhere noticable. Then if you ever lose a key or can't find it when your getting ready to ride then get your knife out, cut it down and go.

I keep a spare set of keys in my tour bag. Since I have locking hard bage,, its not an option to store them in the hard bags. My hard bags carry a set load,, my rain gear, tools, water, and leathers when I park, the tour bag has all my clothes and other stuff for a trip, and that comes into the tent or motel i stop at for the night.

I am still rebuilding mine so I think I will add a key stash somewhere after seeing this thread. And give a copy to a friend. Maybe even stash one in my coat too. With my luck I would lose my key the day of the zombie uprising, which I can only assume would be high on the list of bad days to lose your keys

Don't worry, you'll have time to search. Zombies are really slow.

That's true. Now that I think about it, if you were in full riding gear at the time, your odds of getting injured would go down due to less exposed flesh. Not to mention how much the helmet would help. Try biting my neck now, zombie scum!

That's a great idea!!

I've had to have keys made to both my bikes!! My son broke the key to my ninja off in the gas tank, paid a locksmith $90 to get 2 keys to it made (would have been $140 but since half the key was still there it was only $90), a couple of weeks ago my purse was stolen out of the company car at a gas station in charlotte and my only key to the katana was in it!! Had to pay the locksmith the $140 to get 2 keys to the katana!!

So there I am, standing in my driveway, that instant in time when the door closes behind you, realizing that you don't have your keys. Almost as instantly the tsunami of thoughts and emotions washes over you: Gotta call the wife. Where's my cellphone? In the truck. Truck's locked. S**T!! Spare key!! I have a spare key. Where is it? In my wallet. Where's my wallet? In the house, on the counter, next to my keys. S**T!! Tools. I need tools. Naturally I head for the toolbox on the truck. Man, I really feel stoopit now. I always keep it locked. Where's the key? 3 guesses. So I head for the workshop. Where's the danged key? Wait, I know. Back to the truck I go. There it is. In the ashtray!! S**T!! I'm starting to get really anxious now, 'cause now I am really stranded. So I start looking at and checking doors and windows. Rapidly running out of choices. But viola!! A window that's only 1/2 locked (we have the vinyl ones w/2 locks & the latch thingees for folding in for cleaning) and 1/2 latched. Excellent, I'm in. Wait. No tools!! S**T!! Dumbass!!! Wait again. Clothes hanger. I used one the other day to help a guy out, giggling all the while b/c he locked his keys in his car (I'm really, really sorry now for laughing at you!! Please forgive me!!!!). What did I do with it? The truck!! In the bed of the truck!! Yes!! There it is!! No problem, I'm in now. Get my stuff, go to work. Today I'm off to the hardware store to get copis of the house keys to put outside somewhere.
Don't mean to laugh at the situation you were in, but man, that was a hilarious ! Thanks for giving me a real good belly laugh.

I still get a good laugh at that one. The panic and speed of thought to extricate myself were, together, most exhilarating and the exactness of planet alignment for my slapdown at every step was amazing. The great Nostradamus himself would have been humbled by this series of events.

You arrive and it is now around 5:45 and getting quite dark so you head back. At this point you reach into your little pocket in your jeans, the one that is in the big pocket, to find out you have no key! First you are upset then you are upset and after that you are still upset
