Entering a curve on the outside gives you sight further into the curve and more room to maneuver if needed.

Has your technique of ever caused you to run off the road or into unseen debris on the road?

Not really contrary to, but rather in addition to. The narrow country roads here in the boondocks make for a nasty head-on collision with a pickup.

It's never been a problem for me to do this as I'm a "pick a line and hold it" kind of guy. Meaning if I'm on the inside entering a turn, I hold the inside line. And if I'm on the outside entering a turn, then I old the outside line. I don't do a lot of drifting around going into or during turns.

Here Here! Absolutely! Many fix on the obstacles they want to avoid and end up hitting them by doing so. Focus on where you want to go not where you don't!

This is a very good thread, maybe we could keep it going for a while. Just read back at all the really good information everyone has provided. This thread could become a manual of sorts.

The best advice I heard was from a fellow rider at work, knowing that I'm absolutely enamored with the riding lifestyle:
"Remember that's an unforgiving piece of machinery you're riding on."

Agreed! let's do that. With four tires under you losing one can be unnerving. With two tires under you losing one can spell disaster. I had a bike sieze up in a turn. The motor just locked up, it seemed like forever before I got the idea to pull in the clutch which I did and recovered. I stopped it in the grass between lanes and kicked it over and walked away. I never saw it again and never missed it.

Default total noob mistake

dont forget to look at the car in front of you. as well as those trying to cross in front of you.

because i did not do that i know what a birds eye view of the front of my bike looks like.

lucky for me a wheel locked up and i let off the brakes enough to plant my rear back in the seat.

also i love my 250r the best first bike ever.
30 mph to 0 in way to short. the rear slide around a little, forks compressed a little, but the bike remained rock steady

Bungy cords will not hold a pizza in place, on your back seat. In fact, nothing will hold a pizza in place on your back seat. Forget about it. Eat sushi instaed.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought about this scenario.

I've been thinking, and since I love a challenge, and obviously this is of great concern and has cause more than one catastrophe: if you prop up the pizza in the back, so that it acts as a spoiler, the faster you go the greater the downward force onto the seat. Hmmmmmmmm.............

Clearly this requires testing. Let us know how it goes!
