Default If you rob a bank, don't buy a motorcycle

CERRITOS CA. - Two bank robbers who escaped with hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash from a bank in Cerritos last month apparently got a little greedy.

On the morning of Feb. 22, two white men, both wearing ski masks and both armed with AK-47 assault rifles, robbed an armored Brinks vehicle parked in front of a Bank of America at 18641 Gridley Road.

The men escaped in a white van.

Cerritos sheriff's investigators described the act as brazen and well-planned. They launched an intense manhunt and got a break in the case they never imagined.

The day after the robbery, one of the men paid cash for a brand new motorcycle and went speeding on his new bike down a freeway in San Diego, said Sgt. John Satterfield of the Cerritos Sheriff's Station.

The man crashed head-on into a vehicle and was killed instantly, he said.

Authorities found the bank deposit slips and bank bags still on him, Satterfield said. His name hasn't been released.

With that lead, sheriff's investigators and the FBI tracked down his alleged accomplice to a home in Henderson, Nev., about seven miles southeast of Las Vegas, said Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Los Angeles office.

Benedek Sandor Virag, 25, was armed and had more than $260,000 in cash when he was taken into custody on Feb. 29, authorities said.

Satterfield praised Cerritos sheriff's investigators for their "nonstop" efforts to track down Virag.

A bunch of years back, some fools from the shallow end of the gene pool concoted a kidnapping scheme. they kidnapped the daughter of a prominant (and extremely rich) Vancouver businessman.

The day after they got their ransom, and released their hostage they went on a massive cash shopping spree at a high end mall, which coincidentally was only a couple miles from businessman's home.

Didn't take too long for the police to be notified......and they were caught.

It's always nice when the police don't have to work too hard.

If you rob a bank, don't buy a motorcycle . . . or choose your partner wisely.

These guys could have bought a couple of Buick LeSabres and gone unnoticed for the rest of their lives!
