Default MC inspections are different then car inspections

I took my 900 in today to get the fuel line recall checked out and since i was there and my inspection was up in april i decided to have them inspect it too. Well they checked it all out, the fuel line was fine, and it passed inspection no problems. My registration was up in June, and since my inspection was up in April they could only give me a 3 month inspection!? Thankfully the dealer was nice and said if i bring it back next week (in april) they can slap a full years inspection sticker on it. Im confused on how the registration date had anything to do with how long of an inspection they could give me, never heard of getting a 3 month sticker to begin with, but they were nice about it so no big deal, just another exscuse to go for a ride next week. (not like i need one)

Here in PA and im sure in most states you can get your car inspected 3 months before it is due. Guess i just figured it was the same for bikes.

In Florida, there are no inspections. You take your bike in when it doesn't work and you can't fix it.

Aint that the truth......what a shocker I had after moving here from Florida!!! The government in PA is a crock...and I hate not being able to stop at the 7-11 for a sixpack of beer...gotta go to the State ripoff artists and by a frickin case!!!! Pay for inspections from a private entity...ever notice that what fails is what they sell!!!! Boy I miss some things about Florida!

In California, we have smog inspections for cages. The smog inspection is only valid for 90 days, so if you decide to have one done early (why? maybe a windfall of cash like a tax refund), it has to be within 90 days of the registration expiration.

I'm surprised your inspection isn't tied to your registration in a similar manner.

I don't know about bikes up here, but for cars there is no mechanical inspection - just emissions. Apparently, they don't care if you drop parts on the road or your signals don't work - you just can't send too much smog into the air.

CA law provides for inspection, and CHP used to set up roadside checkpoints where they'd pull you in. If you passed, you got a sticker, if not, you were required to go to a state certified headlight aiming center, alignment shop, or brake shop (private businesses, not state run) and get it fixed.

I don't think I ever saw more than 10% of the cars on the road displaying a CHP sticker, and I haven't seen a mechanical checkpoint in 25 years... but the law is still on the books, and a lot of shops still display the dark blue shield indicating that they are certified for repairs.

The longest political speech in history was almost 24 hours long. It was given on the state capitol steps in Harrisburg, PA, on the subject of political corruption in the state of PA. The speaker finally lost his voice, although he said he had gone through only about half his material.

Always amazed at how many cars on the side of Ct. roads that had wheels fall off.
