Default Bug Removal

Ever been on one of those "absolutely beautiful day to ride" kind of rides, just enjoying the sunshine and perfect temps then all of a sudden you hit it.....a solid wall of bugs that go on FOREVER and feel and sound like you just got shot with something? Then seconds later you realize your bike going to be a mess to clean up. Well having lived in South Louisiana for a while I learned quickly how to get rid of "Love Bugs" easily or spend hours out there with a bug pad trying to scrub them off my paint with out jacking it up.

Now I know this is almost a cardinal sin to some, but if you'll wet the bugs down with water and allow them to soak up the water for about a minute and then wipe them down with a new dryer sheet, you can then come back with a damp cloth and wipe them off in about 2-3 minutes.

The down side to this is that the dryer sheet will leave a haze if you don't get it completely rinsed off but it sure does beat spending hours and hours out there scrubbing and boogering up your brand new custom polyurethane paint job.

even in california we have the sping time bug slaughter. every time i ride now i park the bike outside and hose it off and then wipe the bugs off. not fun, but it must be done. this is why i don't wear a half or 3/4 helmet anymore.

Honda Spray Polish.

Apply, let sit a few moments, wipe off. Does a fantastic job, no residue AND leaves a wax finish that helps repel water and makes cleaning easier later.

Highly recommended.

I know for windsheilds, put a wet towel over the windsheild for a little while and they should just wipe right off.

I put rainX on the bikes shield, makes it easier to get the bugs off. The real key is to soak the bugs first

for the windshield and paint boil water, leave as hot as you can stand and apply rags to an area and let sit about 2 minutes and wipe off. Works great and easy on the paint job.

+1
Keep the towel soaking wet on the windshield for 20 minutes or so and they wash right off.

Exactly. That or Honda Polish. Why? You can't take a wet towel with you on a ride across 4 state lines.

A can of Plexxus or Honda Polish can be packed in a saddlebag (did it ALL the time, Honda Polish comes in both large and small (packable) cans) to do quick cleanups anywere. Spilled gas on the tank? Bugs on your visor? Dirty shield? Freshly lubed chain flinging it all over? Whip out your small can and a rag - boom, instant clean. Even helps reduce fogging on the inside of your shields.

I use furniture polish on our bikes and on my helmet/visor. After using it a few times the bug splatter wipes off real easy. Sometimes you can just flick them off.

Just make sure you pay attention to what that windshield is made of. RainX loves to yellow plastics.

Lemon Fresh Pledge works as good as anything on windshields.

S100!Or Honda brite[samething]
$10.00 bucks a bottle,but well worth it.I get about 3 to 4 washes out of a bottle.
Wet the bike down, spray everything with S100,and rinse.Dry with a camie and ride.
It even works on Harleys! As a matter of fact they recomend it.
