Default Once a rider...always a rider...

I was out for a ride today and at a stop light I hear some honking in the lane next to me. I didn't really worry about it..until it didn't stop. I look over and the guy in the truck next to me holds up his handicap hang tag and starts pointing at me. I thought...wth...is my license plate missing? Then he yells, "This is what happened to me." The light turns green and since I had no idea what this guy was talking about, I stayed behind him...no need trying to compete with someone with a handicap. At the next red light, we pull up together and I looked over and said, "What happened?" He said, "I was on my bike and some guy t-boned me back in August. I was in a coma for three and a half months. Be careful out there." The light then turns green and we both continue on...he gets into the left turn lane and as I pass I flash him a wave. It's always good to get these reminders...ride safe everyone!

And if you're wondering...yes, it was a perfect day for a ride.

Glad he was able to tell the tale.

Keep the rubber side down and your head on a swivel. Ride safe everyone.

Dude! Good on you, but how can you have a first post like that without pics? Not the leg, man, the shifter.

Like the screen name, too. I used to work with a guy who lost part of a leg in a truck accident. We called him "Peggy", short for Pegleg

My buddies wife lost her left foot/ankle in a car wreck...didnt know it for about a year, then one day they were in the backseat and i was driving, she says "can you hold this for a sec?" and hands me her prosthetic foot.....i lost it and just about drove off the road.

Pegleg---Good for you to keep riding!!!! You are a prime example of perseverance and the old saying.."when you fall of a horse, get back on"

Wow, that's amazing. A very good lesson to learn indeed.

I almost can relate Th33nforcer, I had a accident (someone backed into me) while i was driving by. It caught my leg drove it through the xmission, got a compound tib/fib fracture. Ended up laying in bed for 8 months with an external fixator on. I was never so happy as to finally get a cast on! Any how, after i learned to walk again, and built a little strength back into the leg, the first thing i did was to go buy a new bike!

I've been riding since i was 8 or 9 , starting out with a little 5 hp mini-bike, and can't imagine being without a bike!
