Alright guys... A pretty simple rule. I feel pretty stupid for neglecting to do this. Anyway, always pay attention to what's in the road when making a turn. I was making a routine curve through a turn in a neighborhood and neglected to glance at the street. There happened to be some random sandy gravel stuff that had collected right where I was turning. Slid the back tire out and down I went. Luckily no injuries, at least to me. The bike on the other hand suffered a broken clutch lever and dints and scrapes to the tank.
So to save yourself the pain and annoyance of having to do something about a dinted tank, always take at least a glance at the street. |

Yup, it's a pretty simple rule, but one that only gets reinforced with practice or an unfortunate incident. Back in '89 I dumped my brother's '78 Honda Hawk on a patch of gravel on a tight turn on a city street in the spring. Broke a turn signal lens and bent the shift lever and skinned my belly....ever since then I look for gravel on any tight-radius curve.
