my course is on my post at Ft Sill. Its right by the gate heading out towards where my house was at the time. I would pull in when ever I had a itch to practice do some box drills then the evasion drills and take off for home. Usually happened once maybe twice every few weeks. Just gotta keep the knife edge sharp was why i did it.

I have a supermarket in a plaza nearby with a large parking lot. When all the other businesses close for the evening, I sometimes tool around in the lot and practice.

I also practice the U-Turn at work nearly every day - I often pull into one empty space and turn a U so I'm facing outward in the one next to it. I also practice my stop and go's at all the campus stop signs. It's nice to be able to come to a full stop, then start off again without putting your feet down (I'm ready to, just in case, though).

^^^ Ken, are you always up this late on a Thursday night?!? ffs man, go to sleep!

Yes, you ought to practive MSF. I try to, but realistically only do it a couple of times a year when I find a parking lot that is adequate for it. But now that I've been reminded, I'll try to do it this weekend... no, not try- I will do it this weekend!

I wonder...
do ya HAVE to use the bikes the MSF instructors provide, or would it be acceptable to show up on my own? I'm trying now to imagine folding my big a$$ up enough to fit on a 125... or getting the bill for squashing the rear suspension!

I always take time to practice emergency stops at least once a month. I've been riding over 30 years but that really doesn't matter. All riders should try to keep learning and practicing.

I spent last evening watching episodes of "Burn Notice" while posting - I saw them before, but now that USA is available in HD, I'm rewatching some of the better episodes. So, I'm up a little little late to do it. Best lines from one of the episodes:

Quote:
Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe: (referring to a bullet-proof vest he gives to a witness he's helping protect) Just think of it as a safety device, like a seatbelt...
Fiona Glenanne:Yeah, a seat belt that smells like Old Spice and Jack Daniel's...
Sam Axe: Hey, easy now...
Kind of an inside joke there for those who have seen the commercials Bruce Campbell has done recently...

Of course, I went back into work at 8AM this morning after being there til 8:30 last night.

To heck with restless leg syndrome - I have restless entire body syndrome.

2 levels of MSF BRC and ERC. BRC is the beginner course and as far as i know yes you have to use their personal motorcycles. ERC is for the experienced group and you bring your own motorcycle. I dont know how they do it on the civilian side but in the Military you dont do the BRC you go straight to ERC with a few BRC things thrown in. In other words they dont say ok here is the clutch this is the brake and that little metal thingy is the key and you turn it here to do this and blah blah. lol They do however do the slalom course and the braking without putting your foot down exercise.

I spend some time in an empty parking lot every season.
