Yeah, that's the problem with the speed checkers, they seem to always be in 25-35 mph zones. Hard to check your highway calibration in a neighborhood.

And yes, I do speed up a bit when approaching them to watch the numbers change.

Does anyone know the reason for the difference between indicated and actual speed? I feel it has somthing to do with the size of the wheels or somthing like that.

well, if you increased or decreased the size of the wheel, but got a tire profile that kept the wheel/tire the same diameter it wouldnt affect it. get a bigger or smaller tire than that and yes, speed would be affected. same as with a car!

the speedometer can also be affected by the gearing...go up or down in teeth on the sprockets and your speedo will be off even more. im not sure how they do the speed readings on my bike, or most any bike actually! i might have to look that up...

actually most bikes have the speedo cable run to the center of the front wheel. gearing wouldn't affect it. but changing tire size would.
