Default Leafblower Guy is Not Your Friend

I got a face full of lawn debris as some guy decided to blow it into the street at the exact moment I was riding by. The particles got through my vented goggles and into my eyes. It was a very unpleasant experience. Be wary of Leafblower Guy. He is everywhere, and he wants to hurt you.

I had my bike parked in front of my in-laws condo one day and when I walked out I found my bike COMPLETELY covered with grass and dirts etc. Apparently the blower guy decided that the corner where my bike was parked was an ideal spot to blow all his crap that day. I filed a formal complaint with the landscaping company but never heard anything back from them.

The Leafblower guy stirs up insects as well If your forced to ride through an area like this it might be wise to remember to keep your mouth closed unless your looking for lunch

Apt complex I used to live at, the guys they hired to do the upkeep were really bad about this kind of crap. For several weeks, I would wash the Lincoln and it was too big to fit in the garage we rented from them, Bike and Jeep were in there anyway(natch') and the next day would come out to find it covered in dust and sand while the Toyota next to it was still pristine. It was a 68' sedan w' suicide doors and had been my baby for a long time. So I took to watching the next time I noticed the Yard maint. trucks parked out front and sure enough, one of the blower guys once he got to that section, looked both ways then doused my car with all the crap he had blown down the sidewalk. I was outside in 5 seconds flat, hauling his big eye-ed butt down to the front office. and that was the end of that. I still miss that car but I saw this current gas action mess coming some time ago.

I had a condo where that stuff used to happen. I would wash and wax up my truck so you could use it for a mirror. Then the landscaping guys would come along and blow leaves and lawn clippings all over it. I complained to the association and threatened to bill them to have it detailed (there's only so many times I'll put that much effort into it myself) - it never happened again.

Personally, I think leaf blowers are a menace, anyway. They're overly loud, waste gas and make people lazy. My parents have a neighbor that will chase one leaf down his driveway with one. Not only that, people blow crap out into the street for my bike to wipe out on.

I was brought up to use a miracle tool that uses no gas, is all but silent and makes a great workout: it's called a rake. Of course, I also compost my lawn waste instead of bagging it, but that's another story all together.

I agree with all the above comments. There is one thing that I think we should realize. Its not so much the leaf blower as the pr**k operating it. The jerk who blows crap all over your freshly detailed vehicle, or blows their yard waste into the street causing grievous danger to bikes. No to mention that the trash goes into our storm drains and eventually blocks those as well. We must face the fact that anyone who will purposely blow trash and grass onto your car is a Sh**bum. As dear old dad used to say, a moron is a moron and you can't change that. You can of course file sufficient complaints to possibly get the morons fired. Oh wait that might put them on unemployment and food stamps. Of course to those of us who work everyday thats not really a solution. Oh well gotta go put the cover on the bike to keep those abusive birds from doing their worst. Ride Safe everyone, an don't park under a tree.

I'd have to agree with you, on one of my trips to the hospital recently, i arrived just as leaf blower man was doing his thing, i parked up in the dedicated motorcycle area, and couldn't hold in a chuckle as i looked down the row of 15 or so bikes that were all covered in grass, was glad when i got back to find my bike wasn't covered in grass too.

I hear in Japan that they refer to our nemesis as " the Reaf Brower Plick", is there any truth to that rumor?

Getting it in your contacts has to be the worst part. I was riding up the road the other day when it hadn't rained for a while. I come up to a dirt road where a car had just stopped with a big billowing cloud of dust flowing out onto the road I'm on. I rode through it not thinking too much about it until my eyes started stinging and watering from all the dust sucked into my helmet.
