I wake up this morning and check the weather for the morning ride to work... a little rain in the area but according to the radar it isn't heavy, so I take the rain gear with me, but don't put it on... this is something I do regularly in Cleveland it seems.
About 10 minutes from my destination it starts to sprinkle... not unexpected, so I said to myself "Press on, I'll only be slightly damp at this rate of rain" About 5 minutes from my destination.... DOWNPOUR! I'm drenched... I pull in to the college parking lot, which is covered to access the situation. I park the bike and take my dripping self and tail bag upstairs to find a bathroom. I peel off my wet clothes and put on my one dry piece of clothing... my rainsuit. So, after puting my wet work clothes in the bag and run to catch the bus wearing nothing but my rainsuit. I catch the bus and get to work and access the situation. Luckly I work the building I work in is attached to a Holiday Inn. I go and speek top the angels at the front desk who give me a room keep so I can go drk my clothes. 20 minutes later, I'm back in my work clothes and at my desk.... So, let this be a lesson to you... if there is rain in the area, put on your rainsuit, even if it's going to be light rain, because at least in Cleveland, you never know. |

I'd say your first mistake is living in Cleveland!
I usually plan according to the weather report. 30% or greater chance of rain, I take the truck. If I'm already out and get the slightest bit of a sprinkle, I check out the sky. If I still see sunlight then I play the odds that it will only be just a sprinkle. If its dark as all-get-out, then I figure that sprinkle will get real bad, real fast and I'll put my rain gear on. It usually takes getting drenched once to learn that lesson!
