Don't U-turn on a steep hill with deer crossing the street

I was leaving for work this morning and was halfway through the neighborhood when I realized I'd forgotten my building access badge. I was on a steep incline when I attempted to u-turn. Everything was fine as I had done this before but halfway through the turn something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. All of a sudden I had a family of deer darting around me. Startled I pulled in the clutch and front brake. Wrong move. Over I went. I managed to keep the bike from hitting more than just the kickstand. Once I knew I was going over I hit the kill switch and threw my leg over to the side I was falling on to try to catch it. The only damage was to my pride as the neighbors were standing in there window probably watching the deer that were eating blueberries when I scared them.
